Thanks for answering me. My mothers maiden name was Beatice Frances Driskill. Below is my information that I have.
Roy Pennel

Descendants of Beatrice Frances Driskill

Generation No. 1

1. BEATRICE FRANCES4 DRISKILL (MARION FRANCIS3, OBADIAH D.2, THOMAS1) was born 15 Oct 1909 in Cross Timbers, Missouri Henry, County, and died 28 Mar 1954 in Hospital at Windsor, MO.. She married EDWARD LEVI PENNEL 13 Apr 1927 in Cross Timbers, Missouri, son of EDWARD PENNEL and ANNIE MUELLER. He was born 23 Dec 1909 in Macks Creek, Missouri, and died 01 Jan 1994 in V. A. hospital Columbia, Missouri.

Notes for BEATRICE FRANCES DRISKILL:

Mom & Aunties home burned in December 1923, they had both received new long coats for Christmas. They didn't even get to wear them. Remember the little metal trunk Mom had? "Sort of"

They pulled it out, it had some of Moms clothes in it, but Auntie(Opal) didn't even have a change of clothes.

Mom was 14 years old at the time & Auntie was 7 years old.

Alice Owsley's farm joined our Grand parents place on the north." that is where Grandma went.

She was badly burned on her right arm and right side og her face.

Grandma was gone and and Mom and Auntie were in school.

Alice Owsley's daughter Pearl Harvey & husband Bill at the wood lot getting in wood for the night when Mom and Auntie came by on their way home from school.Pearl didn't tell them their mother was burned: "she said,"Beatrice, your mother is in the house"

Auntie said it was a terrible shock when they walked in and seen their mother sitting in a rocking chair so badly burned.

Grandma got burned trying to save her sewing machine" she had a good one" She did get get it out side, but the wind changed directions and it burned any way. Bill Havey or Uncle Asa Bennett one pulled out Moms little trunk. Grandpa Driskill had left earlier tp walk over to his Mom and Dads place which is east froim were they lived, to Starks Creek & cross a swinging foor brifge which was quite high (steps up to it and steps down) high enogh to cross when the creek was high. From our greatgandparents house, grandpa went south to Jordan to the Post Office to pick up the mail.

Mom, Auntie and Grandma stayed at uncle Asa and Aunt Myrtle's house.

The next dayAunt Maggie and Uncle John Willet came in a wagon and took Grandma home with them.

Mom and Auntie walked from school to Aunt Maggie's house. Uncle John Willet was Christian minister. The old store building across the road from the spring( which was called "Spout Springs)

was where our grantparents and Mom and Auntie batched(in the back part of it) for 3 or 4 months, then they moved to the Dalton house which was north east (near) from Jordan.

Great grandmother Meriah Jane (Hugley) Driskill passed away while they were in the Dalton house.

Great grandpa had a sale and moved in with uncle Thomas(Tommy) and Aunt Leue Driskill where he remained until his death. Our grandparents, Mom and Auntie had moved into great grandpa Driskills house at the time he went to live with uncle Tommy.

In 1926 they moved back to the old home place in a two room house they had had build, as by this time grandpa was carring the mail. It was a Star Route which our grandfather worked hard to establish. Grandpa had a lawyer friend who lived in Cross Timbers to draw up a legal petition for people to sign: then our grandfather rode horse back the route he wanted to establish to get signatures. Most people were happy to sign as they had to go a long way to pick up their mail.

Amos Short( the lawer) took the signed petition to Washington D.C. to the Post Master General who established the route and appointed our Grandpa as the mail carrier.

Star Rootes were put up for bids every three or four years: So when the allotted time expired Otto Anderson under bit our grandpa and he lost the mail route, he had worked so hard to get established.

Granda was the Jordan town-ship Constable for many years. He was the Constable at the time their home burned. In those days each town had a Constable. Grandpa remained constable until his health forced him to resign

The above information was given to me by my oldest Sister Mary Anna. Posted by Roy Pennel

This information is from Penny Church of North Carolina:

Her information on the spelling of "Pennel"

Royal Pinnell (deceased) from Mesquite, TX. and her father (William T. Pennell) worked together many years on the family history. Royal spent much time in France and England on research.

"Pinel was the French spelling". Rollo Pinel and his son went with Wm. the Conqueror to England to help overthrow the King(which he did) and their name was Anglicized to "Pennell".

The families(our ancestors) who came to PA. still spell it "Pennell". Family members who migrated south kept this spelling "Pennell". Those who went westward used "Pinnell","Pennel".

Early court records and church minutes use "Pennel" for several years and then we start finding "Pennell" again - who knows - Most people think the census takers and court clerks could not write,

much less spell, and that is how it all became mixed up. Two "ll's" together could look like one(if they're half blind)and be copy that way, an "e" could not have a loop so it could Easly be mistaken for an "i". Nobody knows for sure. ALL of Royal's records from France spell it "Pinel" and EVERYTHING in England and PA. is spelled "Pennell".

She loved music.

She enjoyed writing poems and short stories

She sang and played the piano

Her life on earth was way too short.

I have given her tapes to alot of people.

There are tapes of hers in a lot of different countries.

Annette, you sang at your Aunt Opal's funeral. You sang " there's something about a Mountian"

They played it off of your tape.

Dear Daughter,

I guess one could say that you reached another milestone with your music this year (2005).

You have your tape that you recorded now on CD's. Mark did the art work and set things up for us, so that we can burn them from the computer. Your picture is on the CD and some other information.

There are clouds on the back insert. There are Piano keys with your picture on the front insert.

We do this all from our computer.

Note we recieved from your friend Barbie today Feb. 2, 2006

Dear Roy and Gloria,

Thank you for the cute pictures, they made me laugh. Mom and Dad mailed our CD's to us along with a book that Ciera left at their house when we were there for New Year's. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I listened to it this afternoon and looking at her picture, made me realize how much I miss her. Thank you for creating the CD. I still have her cassette tape but I have nothing to play it on. Now I can take Annette with me in the jeep anywhere I go. THANK YOU. She is truly a blessing. Mason even popped the CD in his CD player and listened to her for a while. I told him Annette is his guardian angel . Ciera wanted to know why she died and how she died. I told them Annette's story, starting at the beginning, when we became friends in grade school, how we blossomed into a unique relationship, and how I was there until the end when she was called home to Jesus. Ciera started crying and Mason had sincere tears in his eyes. I love you both so much. Thank you again.

Love,

Barbie

Here is what your friend Barbie wrote back to me concerning visions. 3/3/2006

Hi Roy,

Yes I got your reply to the note about Annette. I think God sometimes allows us to see our loved ones who are no longer with us, when we are feeling pain, or loneliness. I do feel that you had a vision from Annette. That is so awesome.

When we lived in our other house, Mason was about 4 1/2 and Ciera was 2. Ken was working over the road and he was gone long times in a stretch. I was feeling rather down and out because Ken was gone, and Mason was having night terrors at the time. I was so tired one night and was working late. My office was upstairs in our old house, like it is now. I was feeling very lonely, and had just finished with testing for Mason with the neurologist. Ken wa! s gone, and I was upstairs by myself. It was about 12:30 in the morning. I know I was awake when this happened. I heard a sound and turned around, thinking it was Mason. It was not, it was Annette. She was actually standing in the corner of the room, with a long white dress on. The glow from her was mysterious but yet it was almost angelical. I turned to look and she spoke to me. She said "I have asked Jesus to come speak to you, to tell you that you are a wonderful mother and your children will be ok. Mason will be touched by God's hand and the counselor, you, and God will help him through this. I miss you so much but I do not hurt any more. I will help God watch over Mason and Ciera for you, and you don't have to worry any more. I love you, Barbie". Just as quick as she appeared, she disappeared. There was a sweet smell in the air of jasmine and roses, and my whole body ! was overcome by warmth. It was amazing, breathtaking, and I will never forget it happened. I have only told one other person about this occurrence and it was my mother. She was very touched by it. I still remember every little detail that happened, what she was wearing, what the smell was like, how the light was, and her voice was so soft yet convincing. When I think about it now, it makes me have chills and tears in my eyes. I loved your daughter, Annette Jane, with all of my heart and soul. I still do not understand why God chose her to go to Heaven, but there must have been a reason. We are not here to question God, just follow His direction. Mason was helped by the counselor and myself and God, but it took a lot of time, patience, and dedication on my part. I was angry at first with God for taking Annette, before I got married or she got married or we both had children. After that "VISION" I claimed Annette J! ane as Mason and Ciera's guardian angel. It helps a whole lot, filling the horrible void I have in my heart for her being gone.

I hope my sharing this will allow you to be touched, as your vision touched me. Please give Gloria my love.

Lovingly,

Barbie

Notes for OPAL LUCILLE PENNEL:

IN LOVING MEMORY OF A DEAR NIECE,

OPAL LUCILLE PARMALEE

God needed a flower for his Garden

To bloom in Heaven above

He chose a Special One

To bloom in his Garden of Love

We don't understand God's plans

But we know He makes the right choice

And our Love One is free from all suffering

And gave us memories to share in our loss

Her sweet smiles will live in our hearts forever

She shared with all along her way.

She would go that extra mile

To make All a Happy Day

Her precious Mom, she had waited so long to see

And love ones, waiting to welcome her home.

Like her, some were taken so young from here

But what Joy it was around God's Throne.

Dad, Grandpa's and Grandma's.

In Heaven are rejoicing again.

Singing in that great Heaven Choir

What a great meeting, that must have been.

But she would ask us all to be happy.

As we await for our Home Coming Day.

Where there is no sickness or sorrow

In Heaven where there is Joy always.
