Please, please forgive the lengthy delay in responding, but I did not see your response until today! I would love a copy of your picture of Bishop & wife. That would be fantastic. In reference to the comment I made oh so many years ago about the wealth of Bishop Wash et al, the information came from the census records which listed personal & real estate worth and also some Anderson Co history books. The Wash family, from what I've read, were in Anderson Co early on and were, for many years, influential in the government, including Wash men serving as sheriffs when the county was first formed. Also, the Utterback family comes to Anderson County later (from Germany I think one history book stated) and they also did well.
In reference to your line going to Nebraska, do you have an approximate time frame? Depending on the approximate year, either I, the Gen Web host David, Luther or others could give you a pretty good guess. For example, there were two horrendous fires downtown which wiped out many businesses/homes, and many people left since they could not rebuild. Also, swings in the economy, etc.
Again, I apologize for the delay in my response. I check this site regularly as the information folks put on here is phenomenal, but I had an old timer's moment in not seeing the response.
Take care, Stephanie
