This is a shot in the dark....I have a Lucy Wood, dau of James & Mary Wood, who was given away. At the time, I believe the family was living in Bennington, KS. How sad that this happened so much in those days 1850-1862. Lucy had a sister and two brothers. Mary died between 12/24/1963 and 7/26/1865 when their homestead was ravaged while James was fighting in the Civil War. Perhaps Lucy was born just prior to Mary's death? This would explain James giving up Lucy? James was so distraught that he sold the homestead and took Mary, Albert and Wallace to Kansas and bought a new homestead. In time, he remarried to Jerusha Conkrite and had 4 more children. It is quite possible Lucy moved away with her new family. I have no idea whether her name was changed. Does her age fit?
