Hi Sally, I'm not an expert in the field of tracking down early death records at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, but here is a little info that might help: LEAVENWORTH NATIONAL CEMETERY P. O. BOX 1694 Leavenworth, Kansas 66048 (913) 785-4105 A new hospital has been erected on the grounds/campus where the old hospital/home once stood. You might want to do a Google search for: Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center - VA Heartland Network VISN 15 The main telephone number there is 913-682-2000. Since he was buried on the same day that he died, he might not have been embalmed at a local funeral home. He might have been embalmed on site or not embalmed at all. If all else fails, there is a funeral home in Leavenworth operated by Davis Moulden that you might want to contact: Davis Funeral Chapel (Has been in existence since 1855.) 531 Shawnee Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048 Phone (913)682-5523 The Leavenworth Public Library is located at: 417 Spruce Street Leavenworth, KS 66048 It would be worth a try to ask if they have obituaries on file or microfilm for 1914/1915. I hope you have some luck with at least one of the above contacts. ~Linda |
