my name is Lillie(Wallace)Neal. My late father is Jack Ray Wallace Sr from Illinois. He was born Jan 7th,1939 & he was supposed to have illegally enlisted at the age of 15 or 16,wether this is true or not,I don't know.I know this sort of issue is a touchy subject because of all the factors that may be involved. When he enlisted illegally,he used my grandfathers(his dad)name to get in-Alva/Alvie Barnette Wallace. My grandpa was a Lt.Col in the Army & at the time he was either still overseas himself or working somewhere & didn't find out about it until after my dad had already been drafted & was gone.My grandmother had died in 1945 during pregnancy with their 6th child leaving my grandpa with 5 kids to raise-they had been married since 1933.I do know that my father was supposed to have got an undesireable/dishonorable discharge for something & was "let off with oversized clothes" somewhere in the California desert back then.
I am wanting to find out any imformation on my dad not just for myself but for my older brother, his son Jack Ray Wallace-Bailey Jr.Our dad & his mom divorced when he was 2 & his mother kept him from dad & didn't want him knowing him.He didn't find out that he was a Wallace until he was grown & had went in the military himself. My brother said that they gave him hell when he enlisted because of the Wallace name that was on his birth certificate which was different from the last name he was using at the time which was Bailey. My brother is 41 years old & has had to deal with the pain of not knowing his father pretty much all of his life & then our dad died in 1990.I just met my brother for the first time in person 2 days ago.We both share the same pain because of his mother not wanting him to know our dad.His mother treated him like crap & abused him when he was little because she had so much hatred for our dad & that wasn't right for her to do her own child like that no matter what his father did.
If anyone knows anything or may have served with our father Jack Ray Wallace- may have enlisted under the name Alvie/Alva B.Wallace in the later part of the Korean War,PLEASE PLEASE contact me- email me direct at the email address provided below. My mother said something about dads seargents name being Weir Seiman/Seaman Flye/Frye or Weir Frye/Flye Seaman/Seiman & that dad was supposed to have "whipped his ass"- if that's what he did, that's why he got the undesireable/dishonorable discharge- you're not supposed to do that to your seargent!
God bless all of the wonderful men & women who gave their all to fight for our country-I love every one of you very much (:
