What disrespect? It's a public forum and you have a question. Period. "Wild Weasels" were operations aimed at locating and destroying North Vietnamese antiaircraft sites. F-100's were initially used. Later replaced by F-105 Thunderchief and F-4 Phantom aircraft (the F-105 was nick-named "Thud", a take-off on its official nickname. Because of its immense weight, pilots jokingly stated that was the sound it would make when it eventually fell out of the air from its own weight and hit the ground). Website at

Major (now retired Colonel) and former POW Leo Thorsness flew Wild Weasel missions and won the Medal of Honor during his final mission prior to his capture in April 1967. An article by John L. Frisbee from Air Force Magazine at < http://www.afa.org/magazine/valor/0485valor.html > describes this action.

Using your preferred search engine, enter "Wild Weasel". This should bring up a menu of other sites devoted to the subject.
