Jean. I, too, have ancestors in King Philip's War.

I descend from John Gallup III, son of John II & Hannah (Lake) Gallup. John Gallup III settled in Stonington, CT on a land grant to his father for services in the Indian Wars. He participated in King Philip's War and was with his father in the Swamp Fight at Narragansett. John III was a renowned Indian interpreter and he later represented Stonington, CT in General Court 1685, 1696-1698. Shortly before the turn of the 18th Century, John III and his six sons were granted land in the town of Plainfield, Windham County, CT, but he never lived there.
