Thank you for this database. I just discovered it today (Feb. 17, 2007). Members of my family are trying to track down our mother's family -- Kiefer. My grandfather Carl J. Kiefer was born in Louisville, Ky. in 1886. His father Carl (or Charles) J. Kiefer was born in New York City in 1862. Only recently have we been able to identify his father -- Moritz Kiefer who died in New Albany, Ind. in 1879. We have been unable to verify his whereabouts between 1862 and 1879 or anything about his origins. At least the information you have made available gives us a great deal of information in one place.
