I just happened upon this site and was interested in your discussion. I do not unfortunately know anything about my own family tree having had little to do with my wider relatives. I have however over the years been told some information regarding the Kempster name and its origins I too have been told that the name originates in Germany but also is registered in Scottish History. My mother once had a Kempster Coat of Arms but I do not know what came of it. My father, when he was alive, was sure that our branch of Kempster came from the Oswestry area in Shropshire, where there is a hill, a hall and a pool bearing the name. When we lived in Shropshire, as children, I looked the name up in the telephone book and found only 4 other entries all in the Oswestry area even though we lived in the Telford area and did not know any of the 4 people listed. I would certainly agree that it is an uncommon name though. Mike Kempster |
