Rhonda, you have MORE than made my night -- you've made my week, month and YEAR! :D The funny thing is, late last night, i found a death certificate for Mattie Keith on the LDS pilot site -- the actual scanned image -- so i was coming here to post that i had found out her mother's maiden name was HARMON (but that was about all i knew). i don't know if this link will work: http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#givenName=mattie%20a;deathPlaceId=26;deathPlace=Texas%2C%20United%20States;searchId=74336192061227760000;searchType=standard;p=recordResults;surname=gallaspy;deathYear=1949 ...but i saved a copy as a jpg. The "Informant" for the death certificate information is her Mattie's son, Benjamin Keith Gallaspy, so of course, the information is only as good as he knew, but HE said her mother's name was "Alice Harmon" -- yet another first name for this lady -- LOL! He may have remembered the first name incorrectly, but it's a validation of HARMON. For the record, the Death Certificate shows: Name: Mattie Agnes Gallaspy Death date: March 01, 1949 Death place: Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas Gender: Female Race or color: White Age at death: 80 years 11 months Birth date: April 01, 1868 Birth place: Kentucky Marital status: Married (Her husband, William Easter Gallaspy, was still alive; he died on March 04, 1958) Father name: Geo. T. Keith Father birth place: Kentucky Mother name: Alice Harmon Mother birth place: Kentucky Occupation: Postmistress and housewife Residence: 1934 Daniel St. Cemetery name: Mt. Olivet Burial place: Ft. Worth, Texas Burial date: March 02, 1949 Cause of death: Cerebral hemorrhage, 4 days before. You mentioned: >>> (Could Delia be a McDaniel?)<<< When i was a kid, i know that Mattie Keith & Will Gallaspy's youngest daughter (Nell, my grandmother) was longtime friends with a McDaniel family. They may or may not have been related to Nell's "Uncle Charlie Keith" (via his wife Delia), but i will ask my mom if she remembers more. Meanwhile, i am tickled pink! THANK YOU!!!
