Looking for some literature or reference on the 1883ish Government Land Drainage scheme in County Cavan. My Great Grandfather James Kavanagh lived in Kilnacrott near Ballyjamesduff during this time and worked as a Ganger on this project reporting to William Percy French who had just qualified as a Civil Engineer at Trinity Collage, Dublin. Percy as we all know was better known for his talents in songwriting, dramatics, banjo playing and watercolor painting. His two greatest songs being 'Phil the Fluter's Ball' and 'Slattery's Mounted Fut'. Like to learn more on this project and welcome any pointers in the right direction.
