Try Fairfield County Ohio in the 1830s to 1850s as some John families (Mordecai John along with the Carter and Thomas families) moved to Ohio at the time. It seems to have been a major movement by some Quaker families. The John/s family then moved to Pleasant Plaines (Springfield) Il and appeared on the 1860 census. Some John/Carter/Thomas family then moved to Kansas mainly in Neosho, Coffey Co appearing on the 1865 Kansas census. I think the only way the tangled linage in the John/s family can be corrected is through DNA. Any guys out there willing?
