Phillip,

I have another question for you, I have 2 Cemetery photo's that I had 2 different people translate the Hebrew on the Tombstones, at the time, I had no clue what it was at all, but we are trying to figure out who these people were and if they are related to Hodes and Yisrael Isser? Here are the translations. Maybe you can decipher what is correct:

Link to both photo's on Facebook:

YIVO Institute for Jewish Research:
The tombstones are in Hebrew, not Yiddish. Here's how I read them:
1. Here lies the honest, modest man, lover of knowledge and charity, Yehude son of Mikhoel Faytelevits, who died 23 Shvat 5682 (unsure; that would be February 21, 1922). May he rest in peace.
2. Here lies the honest, modest man, lover of knowledge and charity, Khayim Tsvi son of Yitskhok Leyb, who died 13 Nisan 5682 (April 11, 1922). May he rest in peace.
I hope this helps.

Dear Erica,

We were able to translate the tombstones, which happen to be in Hebrew, not Yiddish.

"Yiddish1": "Buried here / Honest and humble, a lover of Torah and khesed [lovingkindness] / Teacher and Rabbi / R' Yehuda bar [son of] Mikhl / Feytelevits / Died on 23 shvat 5682 [21 February 1922] / May his soul be bound in the bundle of life [Traditional inscription; see Samuel I 25:29]"

"Yiddish2": "Buried here / Honest and humble, a lover of Torah and khesed [lovingkindness] / Teacher and Rabbi / R' Chaim Zvi bar [son of] Isaac Leib / Zalatnitski / Died on 13 sivan 5682 [9 June 1922] / May his soul be bound in the bundle of life"
