Hi Mary Ann,

My grandfather was Salvatore Arno and came from the Messina area of Sicily. He married Santa Petronio and they immigrated to Lawrence MA sometime around the 1910-1913 time. Salvatore Arno's father was Rosario Arno. Rosario Arno was married to Lucia Patte also of Messina. Rosario Arno was a shoemaker in Messina. Rosario and Lucia had five children; Salvatore (my grandfather), Alfio (who was killed in WWI, Michael, Rosa and Conchetta. I was just today in the Lawrence City Hall where I was trying to find out any further information of Arnos. I am expecting to go to Sicily next spring where hopefully I will be able to fill in some of the missing information. Where exactly did your family settle in Boston? My line of the Arnos (my grandmother and grandfather) first immigrated to Lawrence as I said earlier around the beginning of the 1900's. They later returned to Sicily in 1921. We immigrated back in the early 1950's. Anything you can add to what I have just told you would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely

Gina (Luigina)
