Would appreciate either general information or specific information regarding a name which is not apparently of Iranian/Persian heritage and yet emigrated to the US around 1915 from there. I am researching Paul Rowell (1896) and his brother Samuel (1898) both born in Persia (parents also born there). I have no names for the parents. Paul and Samuel emigrated to the US in 1915 and settled in Chicago, IL. Was the British military involved in Persia in the 1800's so that the parents might have been born there? To my understanding the name "Rowell" is of English origin? Thank you.
