Just for the record, the reason for your having been directed to the Indiana Vermillion County message board was that the county by the same name in Illinois is spelled with only one letter 'l' so that it is Vermilion. Since these two counties, Vermillion County (Indiana)and Vermilion County (Illinois) are separated only by a state line and thereby are contiguous, the mistake in the spelling is not uncommon.
Interestingly, legend has it that this crimson color became the name of the Indiana county because a river by the same name ran red with blood after an Indian massacre in it.
