Rosina (17)is listed with the Thomas Hill family in the 1850 Gallipolis, Gallia, OH census. Just a few pages over in Green Twp., Gallia, OH is a listing as follows:

James Preston 40 farmer b. NY
Elizabeth Preston 22 (obviosly a second wife) b. VA
Charles Preston 12 b. OH
George Preston 10 b. OH
William Dision 61 b. VA (wife's father??)

These are the only Preston's listed in this county in 1850. I wonder if this is Rosina's father and second wife. Rather than staying in the house with a "new mother" she went to live with a friend...or as servent???

I didn't find any McBride's listed in the 1850 OH census??? I did notice that Gallia is clear on the southeast side of OH by what was then VA. A long ways from Cincinnati!!

Didn't find them in the 1860 OH census either. Oh my, I just found them in the 1870 IN census and they are listed as
William 38 cabinet maker b. OH,
Rosina 37 b. OH,
Thomas P. 13 b. OH,
Mary A. 11 b. IL
William E. 10 b. IL,
Maggie 5 b. OH,
Charles 3 b. IN
Estelle 5 mths. b. IN
So...they were in IL in the 1860 census time period.

Let’s see…yes, they are listed in 1860 Paris Twp., Edgar Co., IL census:
William McBride 28 farmer b. OH
Rosanah 27 b. OH
Thomas P. 3 b. OH
Mary Agnes 1 b. IL

Looks like they did quite a bit of moving around. Hope this bit of info is helpful to you.
