My Great Grand Aunt Josephine Ratliff, daughter of Moses O. Ratliff and Sarah Ann Golliver, was given up by her father to a family in Marshall CO, IN when she was six weeks old. I assume this is due to the death of her mother, possibly in child birth. She was never heard from again.
I do not know a definate date or place of birth. Best guess would be between 1855, a year after the birth of the last know child of the couple, and before 1860 when Moses remarried. Moses tended to shuffle back and forth between Ohio and Indiana and Josephine could have been born in either state.
She does not appear to have been given to any family members or the Ratliff or Golliver families nor any directly related families that I can ascertain. The only other possible connection is to the United Brethern Church, in whose cemetery near Cloverdale, OH Moses and his second wife are buried.
Can anyone please point me in some directions for further research?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
