From the Inidanan Republican, January 21, 1892: Mary Harrison was born in Ohio on December 31, 1808. Daughter of William and Margaret Harrison. Ynited in marriage to James J. Poulson in July of 1829. Lived in Kosciusko County beginning in 1839. Had 5 children. Leaves 3 children, 2 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. (not verbatim)
Joshua Poulson was born December 28, 1833 in Knox County, Ohio -- a son of James and Mary Poulson. Siblings included Newton, James, Allen, Andrew, Asenith, and Mary. His father was a pioneer of Wayne Township, Section 30. He was a carpenter by trade and assisted in building a steam mill at Monmouth near Ft. Wayne.
Joshua married Catherine Pittenger on March 24, 1859 -- daughter of Daniel and Nancy Pittenger, early settlers of Kosciusko County. Their children were: Ellsworth, Melville, Edmund, Alba, and Bertha. Joshua enlisted in August 1862 as a member of Company M (?), Fifth Indiana Calvary and settled in Wayne Township in 1869. He was a member of Kosciusko Post, No. 114, G.A.R. in Warsaw and also a Republican.
A.D. and Asenath (Poulson) Pittenger had a son, John A. Pittenger. He was born on the farm which he later owned on May 20, 1863. He was a breeder and raised thoroughbred Shropshire sheep, Berkshire hogs, Belgian horses and shorthorn cattle. He married Vera Elder and had the following children -- Ada F., Allen Dean. and Vera. He was affilated with the Improved Order of Red Men.
