The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, September 23, 1908 On Saturday, EUPHRAIM BADGER attended the county veterans' reunion and enjoyed the meeting of his comrades after so many months confinement to his home. On Monday the report came that he had been stricken and later passed away at his home in the east part of the city. He was born in Grant County, Indiana, November 7, 1836. In 1850 he came to Iowa, settling in Lucas County, which has ever since been his home. He and MARGARET HOLMES were married on December 29, 1859, and to them were born two sons and two daughters, WILL B., MRS. JAKE MARTS and MRS. GRANT WILLIBY, of Chariton; and GEORGE, of Council Bluffs. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by four brothers and two sisters, SAMUEL, of Cedar Township, ED and I.N., of Chariton; WILL, of Burlington; F.M., of Idaho and Mesdames MARY and PHOEBE HOLMES, of Chariton. Funeral services were held at the home, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Wells, of the Christian Church, and interment made in the Waynick Cemetery. During the war of the rebellion, he was a gallant soldier, serving three years and three months in Co. K., 34th Iowa, Vol. Inf., and was a charter member of the Chariton Fire Department. The G.A.R. and Fireman took charge of the ceremonies at the grave. In life he filled the measure of good citizenship and his best monument is his good name and the esteem of his neighbors. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CARD OF THANKS Mrs. Margaret A.
