Green's Fork, Ind, Nov. 14 - John W. Phillips, 68 years old, was found dead in the woodhouse near his home about 6:30 o'clock Thursday morning. He had taken his own life by shooting himself with a shotgun. His act was attributed to ill health.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Lulu Philips; three daughters, Mrs. Nova Boyd, Greens Fork, Mrs. Mary Mueller, Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Elizabeth Hendrick, Greens Fork; six sons, Clifford, Cloyd, Virgil, Russell, John, and a step-son Claude Chamness; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Sat. at the home and will be private. Burial in South Cemetery. Friends may call at the home Friday evening and until the hour of services.
Greensfork - Mrs. Laura (Lulu) Phillips, 68 years old, who was a resident of Greensfork for many years, died in Indianapolis Monday. Mrs. Phillips had recently made her home with her son in Indianapolis. She was the widow of John Phillips.
Survivors include a son, John; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Doyle of Indianapolis and Mrs. Elizabeth Hendrick of Muncie; three stepsons, Floyd of Greensfork and Russell and Virgil of Richmond; two sisters, Miss Joyce Symons of Portland and Mrs. Minnie Utt of New Castle.
Services for Mrs. Phillips will be held Thursday at 2 PM at the Gray funeral home in Hagerstown. Burial will be in Greensfork cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in Hagerstown after noon Wednesday.
