Henry Richard Ahrendt SR born circa 1871 Chicago, IL was the son of Wilhelm Heinrich Ahrendt and his wife Dorothea 'Dora' Thorsen who after emigration to the U.S. in Aug 1865 became 'William Henry Ahrendt and Dora/Doris Ahrendt'.

I am looking for more information on this one son of theirs. Specifically would like to find out where he was buried.

Henry Richard AHRENDT SR b. ca. 1871 Chicago, Cook Co. IL. m. ca. 1891        Mary FOLEY b. 30 Aug 1872 Tipperary, Cork, Ireland. d. 30 Aug 1952. Mary (Foley) Ahrendt stated her family emigrated to the U.S. in 1880. They married when Henry was 20 and Mary 19. In the Apr 15, 1910 census they        are living at 2610 West 26th Street, Chicago, IL where Henry Ahrendt SR is        working as ‘foreman in a Barn and young Henry Jr is working in the office        of a factory at age 17.’ They have six children on that census. Mary (Foley) Ahrendt left her marriage and divorced Henry R. Ahrendt Sr because of spousal abuse. The Jan 2 1920 census for River Forest Village, Cook Co. IL shows Mary Ahrendt age 48 without any of her children. She is working as a maid in the Catholic Church for a priest named Thomas A. Burke. Family state she did not move back home with her adult children until the pastor had died. She was not well liked in the home of her eldest son Henry Richard Jr and his wife Josephine. Mary (Foley) Ahrendt was        very ‘pro Irish’ and called Josephine a ‘dumb pollack.’ Her youngest child at the time would have been 12. Her husband Henry Richard Ahrendt, SR after the        divorce stayed at the same address they were living at in 1910. He is in the Jan 24 1920 census for Chicago, IL (misspelled under Ahren) and he is        working as a foreman of wagon drivers. His son Henry R Ahrendt Jr age 27        is with him working as a chauffeur for a truck. Evelyn Ahrendt is 19 and working as a machine hand at a factory. Irene Ahrendt is 17 and in school, as is her younger brother George Ahrendt. With them in the household however        are his brother from Colorado, William John Ahrendt and his son John Edward Ahrendt age 15. William John Ahrendt is working as a machinist in the iron shops. Living right next door is married daughter Doris (Ahrendt)        Osteritter and her husband John, ages 28 and 25 with no children yet. John Osteritter is working in an electrical shop.

Henry Ahrendt SR according to family was a real teamster, with huge hands        and arms that he got by handling teams of horses in early Chicago. He started a local Chicago trucking company in partnership with his son Henry R. Ahrendt Jr. It was called Henry Ahrendt & Sons. Family said he bought and sold some buildings throughout the 1920’s until they bought the large 3 flat with tavern out front on W. Cermak Road in Chicago. They made a lot of money selling booze. There is a 1938 document of a court case reported in the Interstate Commerce Commission of Henry Ahrendt asking for an Extension of Operations in Chicago. It was decided Dec. 5, 1938, although I        do not know in whose favor or exactly what it was about.

They were a strong Catholic family. Mary Foley Ahrendt never remarried.        Family said she was living with either her daughter Evelyn or Doris when        she died, but they cannot remember the year or where she was buried.
Henry R. Ahrendt Sr outlived his son Henry R Ahrendt Jr. After his son ‘Hank’ Ahrendt died family say it broke Henry Sr’s heart as everyone knew        that he adored him. After Hank’s death, his father Henry R. Ahrendt Sr,continued to give his widow Josephine, his son Henry’s usual paycheck, just as if he hadn’t died, until the time he sold the business.

They had 7 children:
Henry 'Hank' Richard Ahrendt Jr born 31 Jan 1893 Chicago d. Jan 1943 Chicago married ca 1922 Josephine Jendrasak 1896 IL d. March 1972

Doris Ahrendt 1895 Chicago, IL. married John Osterritter 1892. Both buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Chicago.
