As far as I know there was only one Hotel in Valley City. There is a note in a publication from the Griggsville Historical and Genealogical society that says, " Mr. Watson made a large contribution to the Apple industry by his presence in Valley City and Griggsville. He constructed a large cold storage, warehouse, cider and vinegar plant in Valley City around 1917. He also had a barrel/cooperage business and a small hotel he called the Beanery, where in the fall he would house and feed his transient workers." It is possible a different hotel existed before Mr. Watson built the one mentioned. The one I remember maynot have been "The Beanery". It was near the RR tracks, I am not sure when it was torn down. At one time the Ferry was owned and operated by a Bill Cook. If you care to write to my email address I may be able to help you further with your questions.
