... I am making a HUGE plea here...

My grandfather was Clifford Joseph McCarry, born Feb 10, 1919 and was killed on June 1st, 1948. His parents were Marion Joseph McCarry and Maud B Browing...

Marion was born 11 March 1885 in Pearl, Pike, Illinois to Stephen McCarry and Lucinda McCarry (maiden name looks to be Manteir)...

Now there was a female McCary born on Feb 27, 1885 in Pearl, Pike, Illinois to a Stephen and Dema McCarry (maiden name Martin)...

Now with the female, I hear that it could be a Mabel as that is a name I have heard about... Anyway, the female is listed as child #1 to this mother, Marion is listed as child #2 to this mother...

On the 1883 birth dad is listed as being 27 years old, born in Illinois and a laborer... Mom is listed as 17 years old and born in Illinois...

On the 1885 birth register (Marion's), there are no ages of the parents listed, and while mom is stated as being born in Illinois, it says Arknsas for dad (Stephen)...

So at age 2 months, Marion's mother dies and Marion is taken in by a wonderful couple, Isaac and Sarah (Gonterman) Horner and raise him until he is grown...

The family story is that when Mom dies, Stephen, his mother in law, and the little girl (Mabel?) take off for St. Louis, Mo. and are never heard from again...

Thanks to a descendent of Isaac and Sarah I have a lot of the Horner family... problem is, this isn't MY family... I want to know MY family...

I worked on this family 5+years ago with ZERO luck... I started up this line again as I am waiting on information on another line, and this time I have ancestry.com I thought that would really help me (I didn't get ancestry just for this line... LOL_... well I have hit that same darn brick wall as before...

What are the chances that this two children have the same mother? Martin is VERY clear on the birth register... however Mantier is pretty clear on the 1885 birth register... HOWEVER... the "n" that would be in Manteir looks an awful like like rest of the "r"'s in the other words that are listed... there is definitely a letter between the "t" and "i" in Manteir... Okay I have just drug my husband over to look at the writing and now I am thinking that it COULD be Martin...

Of course there is NO marriage listed for a McCarry or Martin on the Illinois Marriage list that I can see...

So my VERY long story, I am trying to find ANY information that could help me... Does this Martin family ring a bell with anyone? What about the McCarrys?

The main problem here is there is VERy little family left... My dad is still alive BUT his family (Clifford Joseph) died when my dad, the oldest child, was only 7 when his dad was killed... Of course my grandmother, married to Clifford Joseph's wife, passed away in 1988 so there isn't much out there...

Okay I have rattled enough... I am headed back to ancestry.com... LOL

Thanks in advance for ANY help!!
