Wayne, Ana Barbara Gertrude Bollin (known to us as Anna Gertrude)came from Baden (southern Germany)to the U.S. with her parents and siblings. She married Conrad Nansel who came from Prussia probably in 1855. Our family has not located where either ancestor entered the U.S.
Research in the Church of the Latter Day Saints www.FamilySearch.org will give you information of the marriage of Joseph and Agnes Haire Oct. 28, 1819. Sorry, don't have leads further back than them. I e-mailed your request to one whose aunt was married to Joseph Bollin, a son. She also corresponded with a Clara Bollin some years ago. She, Julie, said she would contact you tonight with more information.
I also have research done by another contact who found the Bollin line in every U.S. Census from 1860.The Joseph Bollin family first settled in OH. Joseph remarried after the death of Agnes in Cincinnati, OH. The name may be spelled Bollen, Bowlin, and other variations.
The white pages research lists about 7 Bollins living near each other at the present day.
Congratulations on your interest in your ancestors. I have been researching for 30 years or more. It is an addictive process, yet so rewarding. I am 77, so probably have more time than you to indulge in the research and was fortunate to have help from so many people who worked on the genealogy before the computer age.
Good luck! I hope to hear of your efforts. Some day I would like to contact the Bollins who stayed in Hancock County.

Cordially, Billye Stevens
