John A. Marquand was born in Coshocton County, Ohio. He was left living with relatives in Ohio as an infant after his mother died and his father moved to Illinios. His father, John Downing Marquand, took with him John A.'s older brother and sister, C.A. Marquand and Mrs. W. C. Bunnell. Later, after John A had married a girl named Arminta he also moved to Edgar CO. Ill. near Metcalf. There John A and Arminta spent most of their lives and had two daughters. Celia A married Otha J Linebarger and had two children: William who died in infancy and Pauline who married Riley McClain.
