My ggg-grandparent were John C. Richardson and Harriet Wade. They were married in 1853 in Shelby County. She was born in Illinois in 1837-38, her parents were both born in Illinois, too, according to census data. John was born in Ohio in 1825, his parents were both born in Virginia.
Harriet and John went to Coles County shortly after their marriage, where they raised their family. Children who reached adulthood were Mary S., William H., Anna M., Ernest E., John M., Jennie A., and Gladys Isabel. In the 1860-1880 censuses this family was in Seven Hickory Township, Coles Co. Illinois. Locations are Loxa, Mattoon and Charleston. By about 1910, Harriet and the children and grandchildren had mostly left for Great Falls, Montana. All told, the family was in Coles County from about 1855-1910.
I have looked online for Richardson and Wade in Shelby and Coles Counties and it's just one big puzzle, there are lots of families, but I haven't been able to determine how they were all connected. I think Harriet's father was William Wade. It's possible John's parents were William H. Richardson and Susannah Bowman.
Is there anyone out there with information about early Coles County? Are there County Atlases, etc. that might have biographical info? Any help, insight is greatly appreciated.
