There is a marriage record from Clay County IL that shows that Lucina Dewhurst married Washington Lewis on October 17, 1863. Lucina (Adamson) had earlier married John Dewhirst on October 16, 1861 and John died in 1862. I have a copy of the marriage record and it clearly states the name "Washington Lewis"; however, I have been unable to learn who this was, as it is clearly not the Washington Lewis who settled in Clay County. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions for me to learn who this was and what happened to the couple?
