My husband is a descendant of John T. Igou, born in 1840 in TN. John T. Igou was the son of Joseph L. and Velvaridda (Gill ?) Igou, born in TN. Joseph L. and Velvaridda with their children are listed on the 1850 Jefferson Co., AL census as follows: Eliza Ann - 11, married Samuel S. Scott 02 Feb 1858 in Jefferson Co., AL, then remarried Gordon Parsons abt 1868, possibly in AL, not sure about this. John T. or S. - 10, married Eustatia aka: "Statie" Brackett 24 Dec 1857 in Jefferson Co., AL Ellen - 8 James - 6 Rutha J. - 3, married James Harding John and Statie are listed on the 1860 census in Jefferson Co., Elyton Twp., AL with: Susan E. - 2, married John H. Griffin 26 Mar 1882 in Hot Springs Co., ARK John T. Igou more than likely died in the Civil War as he was listed as a Pvt. in the 20th Regiment of AL Volunteers, Jefferson Co., AL - Commanded by Colonel Isham W. Parrott. Shows John joined 09 Sep 1861 at the age of 21. Remarks: sick at Atlanta, GA. Munster Roll dated: 30 Jun 1862. Camp near Rutledge, TN. I have not checked out the Civil War records yet. It is likely that Statie probably died shortly after she had childbirth with possible twins named, Ruth Ellen Igo and Joseph Dennison Igo born in AL 10 Mar 1860 or 1861. On the 1870 census in Hot Springs Co., Fenter Twp., ARK the following families were together. Harding, James Harding, Rutha Igou Harding, William Igo, Ruth Ellen - 10 (possible twin to Joseph, living with Joseph and Velvaridda Igou) Harding, Rufus Harding, Florine Igou Harding, C Joseph Igow - 60 Lyddia - (assume this is Velvaridda as she is on the 1880 census with Joseph) Joseph - 15 Igow, Joseph - 11 (possible twin to Ruth, living with James and Rutha Harding) Gill, William - 81 (Wm & Ruth m. 12 Jul 1841) Gill, Ruth - 78 Parsons, Gordon - 22 Parsons, Eliza - 20 Ruth Ellen Igo (twin) is my husband's great grandmother, she married Jacob Redmond Roberts 16 Dec 1877 in Hot Springs Co., ARK. Jacob's dad, Noah A. Roberts, performed marriages in the surrounding areas of Hot Springs, ARK. Does anyone know where Joseph and Velvaridda Igou are buried? Where are the Harding and Gill families buried at? Any information would be appreciated.
