Bobbie: It might just be easier and faster for you to write to the Clerk of the Court in Woodbury County. You can Google the address. For $20, I'm sure they'll mail you a copy of his death certificate, once you send a photocopy of your driver's license as ID and tell them how you are related to him. I've done this many time with much success.

If it's the same man, he appears in the 1920 US Federal Census for Woodbury Co., IA, Sioux City:
Taft, Arthur W., renting, age 34, b. IL, parents both born IL, shipping clerk
Taft, Lilly, wife, age 34, b. Kansas, both parents born in Kansas, maid at hotel
Hook, William, step-son, 16, b. NE

In the 1930 census, Woodbury Co., IA, Sioux City:
Taft, Arthur W., 49, b. IL, parents both born IL, warehouseman, furniture company
Taft, Lillie, wife, 45, b. Kansas
Taft, Josie Mae, daughter, age 9, b. IA

There is a family tree at Ancestry.com that says Arthur was born in Chicago, IL, in October 1881, son of James, lists wife Lillie and daughter Jocie, but no other info.
