Centenary Cook Book (The first 12 pages of the book are gone but the advertisers are from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, which was founded in 1835, thus the book might be from 1935)
Oregon Cake.
One egg, one cup sugar, two cups flour, two teaspoons baking powder, one cup milk, one-half cup butter (butter and lard can be used). Put all together in one dish, and beat five minutes; put in pan (layer or loaf) and bake. -- Mrs. O. D. Penniwill.
