A short biography from the History of Fremont County Iowa, 1881: A.J. WITTENMEYER, farmer, sect. 22, P.O. Randolph, Iowa; born Union Co., Pennsylvania, August 18, 1824, where he remained until fall of 1855 when he moved to Illinois, to stay until 1868. He then came to Fremont Co. and located on the farm now occupied by him. He was married April 25, 1849, to Miss Martha Hooper, of Adams Co., Ohio. They have seven children: Lewis F., b. January 18, 1850; Mary E., b. July 11, 1851; Joseph F., b. January 18, 1853; Caroline A., b. Feb 26, 1857; Ann E., b. June 17, 1860; William R., b. January 19, 1863,; and EMMA F., born Oct 3, 1864. Mr. Wittenmeyer and wife are both members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and have been for 32 years. (end)
