JEANNE BEATRICE HOFF (GOODWIN) (Biographical Data Entry). She was born on 11 June 1910 in Des Moines (DSM), IA as one of 3 children to parents JOHN CASSIUS HOFF (1875 Dallas Co., IA - 10 Mar 1960 DSM & MABEL MINA TENNANT 1888 Oscaloosa, IA - 1963 DSM). Her paternal grandfather was JOHN H. HOFF (1830 Chesterhill, Washington Co., OH - 1909 Dallas Co., IA), and great grand father, POWELL HOFF (1801 VA - 1879 Dallas Co., IA). She grew up at 1325 E. 13th St., DSM, graduated from East High School in DSM and attended Drake University. While at Drake, she married WILLIAM JOHN GOODWIN, JR of DSM about 1934 in DSM. Her oldest son, WILLIAM A. GOODWIN was born in DSM about 1936, and he is still married and living at 39th and Grand Ave, DSM with his wife, Elizabeth (Liz). Bill went to Roosevelt High School in DSM graduating about 1957 and lettered in football. He went to Iowa State Univ. in Ames graduating in engineering. He was in the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was commissionoed in the U. S. Navy as an ensign from R.O.T.C. and served 4 years on Active Duty serving aboard ship during the tense Cuban Missile Crisis, and he remained in the USN Reserves, retiring as a Captain. His wife had one daughter by a prior marriage, who Bill legally adopted, ANDREA GOODWIN. Bill & Liz had two natural children together, GEOFFREY GOODWIN and JOCELYN GOODWIN, All 3 children are married and GEOFF and ANDREA have children. Jocelyn was married in Monument, CO and resides there with her husband. JEANNE's second child is a daughter, SARA GOODWIN. She went to Roosevelt High School in DSM and graduated from Sanford University in Palo Alto, CA about 1960. She moved to Denver and met and married ALBERT ZIMMERMAN, DDS, a dentist and they both currently live there. Her husband retired from dentistry. They have a son & daughter: KURT ZIMMERMAN and WENDY ZIMMERMAN. Wendy is engaged to be married the summer of 2004. Kurt graduated from college and is working on the west coast. Jeanne was active in the Methodist Church, the Des Moines Golf & Country Club, and she & her husband were involved in numerous philanthropic activities, including the Des Moines YMCA and Drake University, where an entire dormatory bears the Goodwin name. Her husband, a lawyer by training, was a promanent businessman in DSM and operated the Goodwin Brick & Tile Company, Central National Bank, and numerous other highly successful business activities. Jeanne enjoyed golf and bridge and remained very close family ties to her sister and brother (Doris & John) and her parents. They had a lovely winter home in Tuscon, AZ. Jeanne's husband, Bill, died in about 1990 and she moved to Wesley Acres, where she resided until her death on 30 Apr 2001. Her services were in the Central Presbyterian Church and she was interred in Glendale Cem. in DSM next to her husband, her parents, and her brother, JOHN RICHARD HOFF.
