Printed in the Seneca Courier, Seneca, Nemaha County, Kansas, October 26, 1883: New York Children’s Aid Society The agent of this society, Mr. J[ames] Mathews, landed in Seneca for the second time on Friday last with 22 children - 18 boys and 4 girls. Some of the younger ones are interesting little fellows, and the people who have taken them will care for them as only Kansas people can.
