I have a brochure on the Sinking Springs Cemetery; site #18: "Governor (John Buchanan) Floyd's biographer was Robert Hughes, who was a newspaper editor in Richmond during the Civil War and a dyed-in-the-wool Confederate. After the war, he realized that his future lay on the other side of the political fence, so he became a Republican and was appointed U.S. District judge by President Grant. He later returned home to this area with his wife, Eliza Hughes." I am not reserching these people and have no further information. |
