Anthony Huddleston was the son of Solomon Huddleston and Elizabeth Spangler. He was born in Kanawha County, VA (WV) about 1810. (There is some contention regarding exact year of birth. He celebrated his 100th birthday in 1905, but I feel he somehow miscalculated his birthdate and actually was born about 1812. In 1840 Federal Census his age is listed as '30 under 40'. In 1850 Federal Census his age is listed as 40. In 1860 Federal Census his age is listed as 51. In 1870 Federal Census his age is listed as 61. In 1880 Federal Census his age is listed as 72. In 1900 Federal Census his age is listed as 96.)

He married Susannah Whetstone, 13 Aug 1835, in Ripley County, IN. He and Susannah had ten children; Martha, Anthony Jr., Mary, Christina, David, Samuel, Nancy, Susannah, Collins and Margaret. All born in Ripley County, IN. (Anthony Jr. is my GGrandfather.)

Anthony Sr. is recognized as the first settler of Ellsworth, Pierce County, WI.

Anthony Sr. died 17 Feb 1905 in Trenton, Pierce County, WI. He is buried in St. Pauls UCC Cemetery in Ellsworth, WI. There is a large monument on his grave noting him and his wife as the first settlers of Ellsworth, WI. Also, there is a large photograph of him that hangs in the Pierce County Court House in Ellsworth, WI.

I hope this helps you.
