Not my direct line, but thought someone would be interested... Lavinia Honeyman married Unk. Porter at about age 15 and traveled to Cal. by ox team in 1860. Her diary was published by Oakland Enquirer Press in 1910 "By Ox Team to California : Narrative of Crossing the Plains in 1860." Excerpts later appear in "Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey." (paperback 2004) by Lillian Schlissel. My husband bought this book for me at a local chain type bookstore, and I was interested to see a Porter's diary in there.
