I recently ran across mentions of a Harvey Hoge/Hogg in the series of books that published the answers to questionaires completed by War Between the States Confederate veterans. George Solomon Hoge, son of Moses Hoge and grandson of Solomon Hoge of Frederick County, Virginia, gave a detailed account. Otherwise, John Hoge purchased land on the Duck River in Maury County, Tennessee, in 1813. Part of Maury County was used along with part of Bedford County to form Marshall County about two decades later, and I believe Marshall County inherited a short stretch of land along the Duck River.
The Hoges of Frederick County, Virginia, have had considerable information written about them, especially BEFORE the American Revolution. By the Revolution, many branches can be found in several developing areas that became new states, including Kentucky and Tennessee. I hope you find some answers, and will take the time to post your findings.
