SIMEON HODGES was born in Nunda (now Eagle), NY, in 1810, and has been a veternary surgeon forty-four years. His father was William Hodges, of English-Irish origin, born in Savoy, Berkshire Co., MA. He came from Herkimer Co., NY in 1808, and located on lot 8 in Eagle, NY, which was articled by him and his brother Silas Hodges conjointly, and erected a log house without boards or nails, on the Carles Van Hoesen farm. They became leading men in that section of the county, where they both died at the age of sixty-six, William Hodges on Aug. 12th, 1859 and Silas Hodges on Aug. 18th, 1859. The former served the town as highway commissioner. Simeon Hodges served in the 14th regiment, 5th brigade heavy artillery during the patriot war. In 1849 he married CLARA SMITH, daughter of Solomon Smith, who settled on Campbell Hill in 1824 and died there in 1826. Feb. 9th, 1867, his first wife died, and Feb. 21st, 1868, he married LUCINDA ZIMMER, daughter of Henry Zimmer, who located in Eagle Village in 1833, and is now living in Genesee Co., NY.
