Hi Thank you for getting in touch. Feel free to email me directly. I tried before to email your at the address shown on this web site and my mail returned undelivered. Homer Austin Hesselrode is my father. As you may know he died in 1992. I do not have any contact with his brothers. I am hoping Clarence and George may still be alive. Clarence drove across country to visit my mother in California about 6 months before she died in June of 2005.
I am now in touch with Kelly Naylor who also posted on this site and she has given me a lot of information. I did not know my grandfather's name, but now I know, yes, my grand dad was Robert Edward. He was the son of Robert Hesselrode and Alice Storm, correct? So your grandfather Henry was his brother. It seems to me that both Alice and Robert Sr died quit young and if Robert Edward was born in 1885 or there abouts then he was only 6 or 7 when his parents died. I am wondering who raised the children left behind by Alice and Robert. Please email me directly. I live in Windsor Ontario, Canada. I have a Post Office box inDetroit for US mail Alice Hesselrode PO Box 32568 Detroit Mi 48232 Thanks for offering to send the tree. Or did you mean sending it email? Were you wondering about when John and Christine immigrated from Prussia? That would have been our great grand parents, right? I remember hearing that my ancestors had to flee because of political uprising and that they were part of the aristocracy. I looked up the history of Prussia and found there was peasant revolts throughout Europe during 1848 due to famine and suffering. Most of the revolts were not successful however in Austria and Prussia the revolts were successful and feudalism was abolished by the 1850s. So I would guess that the Hesselrodes immigrated to the US around 1848. Thank again for the contact, cousin.
