I've come up with a little more information on Susan. I now believe that her last name was Haynes, and that William Myers gave it a German spelling. Here is what I base my conclusion on:
Descendants of Stephen Haynes

Generation No. 1

1. STEPHEN1 HAYNES was born Abt. 1811 in Tennessee, and died Aft. 1880 in Arkansas. He married SUSAN Abt. 1840. She was born Abt. 1820 in Tennessee, and died Aft. 1880 in Arkansas.

Notes for STEPHEN HAYNES:

1850 Federal Census, Little Tock, Pulaski Co., AR

Child of STEPHEN HAYNES and SUSAN is:

i. SUSAN2 HAYNES1, b. Abt. 1849, Arkansas; d. Abt. 1870, Kansas; m. WILLIAM HENRY MYERS, Abt. 1865; b. November 26, 1845, Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio2; d. August 15, 1934, St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri3.

Notes for WILLIAM HENRY MYERS:

Served A Company, 13th Kansas Volunteer Infantry, USA, in the Civil War. Rank, Corporal. Listed Palermo, Kansas as residence. Enlisted Sept. 22, 1862. Mustered out with company June 26, 1865, Litle Rock, Arkansas. Member Custer Post G.A.R. Pension number 422623. Left hand injured June 1865 while on duty at Little Rock, Arkansas, cutting ice at hospital. Another soldier accidentally cut William's hand with an ice axe, permanently injuring it. He received eight dollars a month.

Family history has it that after Susan's death he took the children to Colorado because Susan's parents were trying to take the children away from him. I have found no evidence of this.

Myers, William, 25 OH farmer

Moved to St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri about 1873, stayed there until 1880*, then moved to Decatur Co., Kansas for a year, returned to St. Joseph, lived there until 1887, then moved to Andrew Co., Missouri.
