I'm gathering information for presentation to the Lyon Township Library regarding their citizens who served in the Civil War. The following is all the information I have about John Hazelson: Hazelton, John of Lyon, Mich., c.1843 (Mich. records), September 1846 (1900 US Census) or 1849 (1880 US Census) born in England; 1846 immigrated to United States; Aug. 9, 1862 enlisted at Lyon as pvt., Co. I, 22nd Mich. Infantry Rgt. Sept. 20, 1863 captured at Chickamauga, Ga. no date exchanged; Feb. 5, 1865 returned; June 26, 1865 mustered out at Nashville, Tenn. c.1866 married; 1870 farm laborer at Gaines, Mich. at 1880 porter at railroad depot at Vernon, Mich. 1890 living at Vernon Township; 1900 carpenter at Vernon; 1910 widower and laborer at Vernon; 1920 laborer at Vernon; first wife Helen or Ellen Hazelton, May 1842 born in Michigan; second wife Josephine H. Hazelton, c.1847 born in Michigan; Children: Jennie Hazelton, c.1874 born in Michigan; Maggie Hazelton, c.1878 born in Michigan; John and his widow Josephine Hazelton applied for a pension while living in Michigan.
