I have a strong interest in the Harney name. My 2nd great grandfather, George Miller - (1796, PA-1882, Greene Co., OH) married Caroline Wilson -(1809 Fayette? Co., KY - 1891, Greene Co., OH) and named a child Harney Anslie Miller. Another son named his son John Harney Miller, and yet another child named her son Harney Miller. I have not been able to discover a Harney connection yet in the Miller line (although I do not have much prior Miller history). I have been able to discover that Caroline's sister, Eliza Ann Wilson, (1807 Fayette Co., KY - 1886, Morgan Co., IL) married John Russell Harney, (1806 Fayette Co., KY - 1887, Morgan Co., IL). John Russell Harney's ancestry was William>Jenethen>Thomas>Thomas>Timothy and Elizabeth Greene. Although there is a Harney connection through Caroline's sister, this does not seem reasonable that Caroline and George would have such a strong Harney name occurrence in their descendants from this relationship. Yet another strange occurrence is the marriage of a Mary Ann Wilson (b abt 1788, KY?) to John Herrington (b 1780-90, died abt 1834, Harrison Co., KY). They were married in 1806, Mason Co., KY and one child married Willouby Harney and three married into the Fryman family. I suspect Mary Ann was a sister to Perry Wilson and that there mother was a Harney, hence the Harney names in Caroline's family. Does anyone have more information on these people? |
