Newspaper clipping The Sentinnel {Madison] October 22, 1897 p. 10, col. 2 Brutally Treated a girl A Madison Couple Fine $50 and Cost East Madison, Wis. Oct. 21 - Mr. and Mrs. WIlliam Harbort were fined $50 and costs each by Judge Donovan today for brutal punishment of Mr. Harbort's 18 year old daughter. The testimny showed that Mrs Harbort, the step-mother, kicked and beat the girl while Mr. Harbort held her, and that he afterward threw her out of doors. They paid the fine amounting in all to $120.33"
