I have just seen your message regarding Alice Mary Eliza Handford and was wondering if you had followed up Peter's info regarding her birth certificate. My family came from Portsea and, though not related directly, my great, great grandfather's eldest brother ( James William Handford )emigrated to the States in 1850 at the age of 20. I would not rule out the possibility of him returning to England, shortly after his father's death, as he was left a substantial property. Could James William Handford be her father?
