To descendants of Frances Alexander Hamilton/Hambleton b ca 1760 Va, lived East Tn until ca 1819 when living in Lawrence Co Al...

Hamilton DNA testing from a lineal descendant of Jacob Hamilton shows he was a son of Frances. Family Tree DNA kit #149308 represents this Jacob's line...and it matches 35/37 with kit #15225, known descendant of Frances - only mismatches are at fast-moving markers 464a-d, and 570. Frances was known to have had a son named Jacob by 2nd wife Mary, but no records of him existed to tie him to the family.

Jacob was md to Elizabeth Campbell in Madison Co Al 1 Nov 1821 (see Mad Co Al Marriage Records. I can't find him on the Alabama census records of 1830 or 1840, but census records beginning 1850 in Madison Co Al show all of Jacob's children were born in Alabama. He was likely the Jacob who is found on the 1847 Beat #3 Tax Record of Walker Co Al near H.W. Hamilton, a son of Barton Hamilton.

Jacob (listed as a "carpinter" in 1850) and Eliz. had the following Ch:
1. William b 10 Sep 1825 Al. md Margaret Provence 28 Nov 1850 Madison Co Al (my line)
2. John b 1827 Al. md Catherine Old 28 Jun 1849 Mad Co Al.
3. Alexander b 1830 Al.
4. Andrew Jackson b 20 Sep 1832 Al. md Narcissa Stone
5. Abigail (twin) b 20 Sep 1832 Al. md John Oldfield
6. Christopher b 1834 Al.
7. James b 1836 Al.
8. Ann b 1838 Al. md George Wilcox
9. Mary Elizabeth b 1840 Al.

Jacob & family moved to Texas ca 1855-6 and are listed on the Bell Co Tx 1860 census simply as J. Hamilton, Carpenter. Their descendants continue to live in Bell and Coryell Co Tx. I hope to share more info on Jacob and catch up on Frances Hamilton info...direct emails are welcome.
