A haitian history book (Thomas Madiou, Vol IV) mentions a Captain Lemonier de Lafosse who was part of the French army in the city of Santo Domingo in 1808, right before the french there were defeated by the spaniards and left the island. His race is not mentionned but he was most likely white. If you think he is related to you, the French army records of that period are public, are very well kept and are at Vincennes castle, near Paris. They have an index by name to facilitate research.
