Few families of Saint Dominuge bore the surname Grandmaison in addition to thier regular patronym. Sieur Joseph Plante Grandmaison was a notary in parish of Mirebalais. He was married to Jeanne Francoise Masse, the widow of Sieur antoine joseph de La Fore, an habitant of Mirebalais. Their children bore the name of Masse Grandmaison.

Another Grandmaison family was that of Sieur Clement de Grandmaison a prominent colonist who resided in Saint Dominuge during the first half of the XVIIIth century. The family dropped the Grandmaison part of their name after a few decades. One suggestion " Pinta and Grandmaison" could be a deformation of Plante-Grandmaison.
