Seeking any information on Gardiner/Gardener/Gardner or any other variant of the name, in Sussex and Hampshire from 1700 onwards. Does anyone know if this is a Romany Gypsy name? If so, any information would be much appreciated. One of our ancestors (a Gardener) married a Stanley, who was definitely Romany. Another married a Turner, another Romany name.
