Pat: I have copied one reference to William Guthrie's lottery award. In 1827, I believe that Carroll County might have been a part of the same area from which Coweta County was formed. Are the William of Gwinnett and the William of Coweta the same person? 4) GWINNETT Co. GA references for John and William - As noted above, one of John’s pension papers reflected his residence was Gwinnett Co. GA when he had filed papers the year before. (GA has no 1810 or 1820 census available and I could not locate a John or Wm in the 1830 census). May 8, 1827 a William GUTHRIE, R.S. of Cat. Hunnicut Dist, Gwinnet Co. drew some Carroll Co. Land in the 1827 GA lottery. A Power of Attorney was found in MERIWETHER Co. GA courthouse….11 Jun 1827, Recorded 4 Mar 1828 John Guttery of GWINNETT Co. GA appoints his son Benjamin GUTTERY of the County of Walton as his attorney in fact to sell, receive and convey these lots: No. 13 in Ninth District of Troup Co., No. 169 in third District of Muscogee Co. No. 87 in Fifteenth District of Carroll County . Witness was Shadrick and Loll? FARMER. Is this the same John ?? |
